It's only 19 days until the first race! With Daytona quickly approaching, I thought I'd throw an interesting tid bit out there. Did you know that the first time Michael Waltrip won Daytona was the same race his boss lost his life? It's true.
It was very emotional listening to his big brother Daryl announcing his win at the same time worrying about Dale Earnhardt, who had just crashed. He had no idea the wreck was fatal and was expecting Dale to hop out, like he always did. Talk about bittersweet.

First Race: February 7, 2009
I never thought I'd like NASCAR. I always pictured beer bellied guys in wife beaters with their women in the short t-shirts and boobs hanging out the bottom.
Man - was I wrong! What a great sport!
Every race begins with a prayer. In America, the land founded on Christian beliefs, these folks do not apologizing for having a preacher give an invocation before a race. It’s truly Americana.
And the racers….what class acts they are. These are intelligent, genuinely nice guys. The interviews are far different from pro-ball game interviews. Every race is an adventure and every fan has their favorite. Except maybe me, I love all of them.
First race of the season: February 7 at Daytona. I can’t wait!
